Freedom was born from the skies — and from the heart.

My husband Craig, a lifelong model aircraft flyer, began using drones to capture the world from above. I followed him from project to project, quietly watching as he sent each drone on its missions and guided it safely back.

One day, while exploring the wild beauty of Wales, something unexpected happened. As I stood with my handheld DJI camera, the drone hovered in front of me — and in that moment, it didn’t feel like a machine. It felt alive. Like it had a heart. Like it had eyes.

That moment stayed with me. It sparked a thought: this drone needs a name… a story… a soul.

That same weekend, while wild camping, the word came to me as clear as the skies above: Freedom.

Because that’s what it felt like — the ability to see the world from a new perspective. To explore. To return with stories. To connect people who might never see what it sees.

Our Siberian Huskies, Shadow and Ellie, ran free around us that weekend, wild and joyful. Watching them, it felt like Freedom the Drone wasn’t just a piece of tech, but part of the family — not just flying, but living alongside us.

And so Freedom the Drone® was born — not as a gadget, but as a character full of heart. Here to bring stories, wonder and joy to children everywhere.
